Download Location Changer user guide

Before you begin

The extension is a release candidate. Chrome, Edge and Firefox store publication and live PRO checkout are not complete. Full folder routing currently requires Windows 10/11 x64 and the local companion. Use a local NTFS destination. macOS, Linux and network paths are not supported by the integrated companion.

Install the companion

Open the product page for the currently published installer and checksum. Python is included. Select optional FFmpeg for image/video conversion and LibreOffice for supported document-to-PDF export. You do not need to configure PATH. Installing the companion does not install the browser extension or connect your account.

Choose and check a destination

Paste the entire drive path, such as C:\Projects\Video\sources, into the destination field and apply it. Check the drive and final folder in Current folder, then use Open folder. The browser first completes its download; the companion then transfers it. Wait for completion before checking the destination.

Recent paths and routing pause

Pin recent folders with the star, optionally name them with the pencil, and drag to reorder. Routing OFF leaves new downloads in the browser default folder and disables naming, sorting and conversion for those downloads. Independent privacy rules remain active. A transfer already sent to the companion may finish.

PRO, conversion and privacy

PRO is planned as a $19.99 one-time purchase for this product. Account connection does not install the companion. Sorting and conversion are separate options: putting an AVIF in images does not convert it to PNG. Conversion keeps originals. The privacy PIN locks settings; it does not encrypt browser history. Forgotten PINs require resetting privacy settings.

If a transfer fails

Check Windows connected, the complete destination, drive availability, write permission and free disk space. Keep the original until you verify the final file. A failed transfer retains the original. Retrying a recorded completed copy after a helper crash does not generate another final file. A crash during copying can leave a .notoow-*.partial file; do not delete temporary files during an active transfer. Power-loss protection is not guaranteed.
